The MI-FI Financial Literacy Program provides specialized training and official certification for both educators and students across Michigan:
Equipping K-12 teachers with pedagogy, content mastery, and official certification to lead personal finance instruction in their schools.
Interactive online learning modules and standardized certification test validating student financial capability for graduation and beyond.
Launching in the 2026–27 school year, AP Business with Personal Finance is a yearlong high school business and personal finance course that aligns closely with a college-level introduction to business course. Students explore the business disciplines of entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, accounting, and management through real-world business applications, case studies, and project-based learning.
In addition, students learn and apply all the National Standards for Personal Financial Education created by the Council for Economic Education (CEE) and the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy.
Join the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago-Detroit Branch and MCEE for an exclusive evening of professional development on October 15, 2026 (5:00 PM – 8:00 PM)! Connect with Fed economists (Economic Update by Martin Lavelle), explore free classroom resources, network with fellow educators, and earn SCECH credits for participating. Note: Teachers who attend all 3 Teacher Nights at the Fed during the school year will receive a $150 stipend!

$martPath connected to Michigan State Standards: $martPath is an engaging, interactive, and easy-to-use way for elementary and middle school teachers to embed relevant and fun economic and financial education in their classrooms to boost students' financial literacy.
The National Content Standards in K–12 Economics offers 260 benchmarks grouped into 18 economic pillars including business and market structure, roles of government, labor and income, international trade, inflation and – new in this edition – technology. These standards are designed to be relevant for different grade levels.

10 Michigan SCECH available for educators who complete NGPF Certification Courses. Certification courses are held over a 5-week period (single 2-hour session per week, 9 hours PD + 1 hour exam).
The Michigan Council on Economic Education offers SCECH for Michigan teachers who attend or watch Council for Economic Education webinars. Submit your certificate of completion via our Google Form.
